Comets - Finals Season

Seven Comets teams played in the Semi Finals on the weekend.  Four teams won with two going straight into the Grand Final in two weeks time.  The three losing teams remain in the final series, benefiting from the second chance.  So Comets still has seven teams contending for premiership flags.

The two teams straight into Grand Finals are U12 Girls and U13 Gold.  Congratulations. Enjoy the rest!

  • U12 Girls def St Marys (3.7.25 to 1.0.6)
  • U13 Gold def Glen Iris (8.10.58 to 6.5.41)

The two teams that won on the weekend, earning a right to play off for the Grand Final are U14 Gold and U15 Girls.  Maintain the spirit!

  • U14 Gold def Ivanhoe (8.7.55 to 6.3.39)
  • U15 Girls def Whitehorse Colts (3.5.23 to 1.1.7)

The three teams that keep their finals hopes alive are U10 Blue, U12 Gold and Colts. Time to reveal the Comets way!

  • U10 Blue lost to Fitzroy (2.3.15 to 7.8.50)
  • U12 Gold lost to Beverley Hills (5.5.35 to 9.9.63)
  • Colts lost to Beverely Hills (7.4.46 to 14.12.96)

The Preliminary Finals Comets games on next Sunday, 24 August, are:

  • U10 Blue - v Camberwell at 10.15am at Greythorn Park
  • U12 Gold - v Hawthorn Citizens at 10.15am at Stradbroke Park

  • U15 Girls - v Kew Rovers at 2.45pm at Burwood Reserve Top
  • Colts Div 3 - v Glen Iris at 2.45pm at Koonung Reserve

All Comets families are encouraged to go out and support one of these teams.

Kew Comets Players in TAC Leadership Roles

The Oakleigh Chargers announced in March the 2014 Captains and Vice Captains for this year's TAC side.  The Captain is Darcy Moore.  The two Vice Captains are Mark Pittonet and Hugh Beasley.  All three boys played junior footy for Comets.  We congratulate the three boys on the recognition of their leadership skills, as well as achieving selection in the team.  We wish them well in the 2014 season.

The Oakleigh Chargers are an U18 team which plays in the AFL's TAC Cup.  Oakleigh Chargers draw representative players from the south eastern Melbourne leagues, of which the YJFL is one.
