Kew Junior Football Club

Registrations for Season 2014

As the 2014 season has commenced, we advise those thinking of playing for Comets this year to contact the Registrar.  This can avoid disappointment as some age groups are closed to new registrations.  It will also avoid confusion as to the age group and team a new player can join.   Players must be 7 years or older on 1 January 2014 to play for Comets; younger players can register for Kew Comets Auskick.

Registrar: Judy Bourke, or 0422 005 975

Comets Registration: Register Now (Comets).

Auskick Registration: Register Now (Kew Comets Auskick).

Sportsguard wil make individual mouthguards by appointment.  If you wish to contact Sportsguard directly for impressions and fittings, they can be contacted on 9417 1449 and  They are located at 82 Bell Street, Fitzroy.  Sportsguard are a Kew Comets sponsor.

Mouthguards must be worn at all training sessions and games.  This is a requirement of the league and the club for insurance purposes.

The club supplies each player with a Comets playing jumper.  The Team Manager will hand these out in the week prior to the first game.  Players keep the jumper for the season and return them to the Team Manager after the last game of the season.

All players need to have their own YJFL logo'd shorts - white for away games and brown for home games.  Also, a pair of yellow footy socks are required.  All are available form Bob Stewarts, 201-221 High Street Kew

Kew Comets Players in TAC Leadership Roles

The Oakleigh Chargers announced in March the 2014 Captains and Vice Captains for this year's TAC side.  The Captain is Darcy Moore.  The two Vice Captains are Mark Pittonet and Hugh Beasley.  All three boys played junior footy for Comets.  We congratulate the three boys on the recognition of their leadership skills, as well as achieving selection in the team.  We wish them well in the 2014 season.

The Oakleigh Chargers are an U18 team which plays in the AFL's TAC Cup.  Oakleigh Chargers draw representative players from the south eastern Melbourne leagues, of which the YJFL is one.

Kew Comets Business Directory

Comets welcomes BWM Financial Advisors onto our Business Directory – see the link under Sponsors in the menu at the left. We offer this service to facilitate connections between our club families who offer a service and those requiring one. It is also a way for local businesses to make a small contribution to our club fund-raising.

We launched a new Business Directory in 2012 to assist in doing business with other members of the Kew Comets community. Consider signing up for the 2014 season.

Get your jobs done by others providing services in the Club. View the directory to see what's available. If you are interested in advertising in the directory, read the proposal.
